You take a loss. It stings. You jump right back in to “make it back,” bigger and faster. Now you’re down twice as much. That’s revenge trading, and almost every trader has done it.

Why it happens

A loss feels like a threat, and your brain wants to fix it now. Your plan goes out the window and emotions take over.

Three rules that help

  1. Daily max loss. Pick a number, like 2% of your account. Hit it and you’re done for the day. No exceptions.
  2. The two-loss break. After two losses in a row, walk away from the screen for 15 minutes.
  3. Same size, always. Never increase size after a loss. Size comes from your risk rule, not your mood.

Track it

Mark revenge trades in your journal. Seeing the cost in black and white is the fastest way to stop.
