Your trading roadmap

Two clear paths: one for brand-new traders, and one for traders who've been at it a while but aren't profitable yet. Pick yours and work through it in order.

Path 1

I'm brand new

  1. Understand what you are tradingStocks, futures, forex and options each behave differently. Pick one market to learn first.
  2. Learn to read a chartCandlesticks, support and resistance, trend, and volume: the core building blocks.
  3. Practice in a simulatorPaper trade until you can follow your own rules for a few weeks straight.
  4. Write your first trading planWhat you trade, when you trade, how you enter, where your stop goes, and how much you risk.
  5. Go live smallTrade the smallest size possible. The goal is learning to follow your plan with real money on the line.
Path 2

I trade, but I'm not profitable

  1. Audit your last 50 tradesFind the pattern. Most losses come from a few repeated mistakes, not bad luck.
  2. Cap your risk per tradeIf you are not using a fixed risk rule like the 1% rule, start there today.
  3. Cut your playbook downKeep only the one or two setups that actually make money. Drop everything else.
  4. Journal every tradeWrite down why you took it, how you felt, and whether you followed your plan.
  5. Review weeklySet aside an hour every weekend to review results and adjust one thing at a time.
